Maria Furtado
Maria is a neonatal physiotherapist who qualified in 2006 from Nottingham University. Maria has always been passionate about working in the paediatric environment and started her career in a community paediatric setting where she worked for 11 years. Maria has varied experiences with early years complex needs children which spurred her career direction towards the neonatal setting.
Maria has worked as a neonatal physiotherapist for 12 years in level 2 and level 3 units. She is a great supporter of early intervention from the very beginning of life and having parents and families at the centre of the neonatal approach.
Maria has been privileged to work alongside expert therapists and professionals in the neonatal field and feels the EI SMART framework is vital to provide the holistic care our babies and families need.
Maria currently works on the neonatal unit at UCLH and is the joint lead physiotherapist for the London Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.
