Elaine Mc Mahon
Elaine is a Consultant Neonatal and Neurodevelopmental Occupational Therapist at the Royal Free Hospital in London. She supports infants and families, within neonatal care, at a Level 1 and Level 2 unit. She provides neurodevelopmental follow up for high risk infants from birth to 4 years along with early intervention for infants requiring developmental support.Elaine is an Honorary Consultant at University College Hospital London.
Elaine has many years of experience in working within infants, children and families. Elaine has a particular interest in neurobehaviour and relationship based care and is a lecturer for the Brazelton Centre UK. Elaine has advanced certification in the Prechtl General Movements Assessment and Neonatal Therapy Massage Touch Certification (NTMTC). Elaine is an Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner and completed her MSc Sensory Integration in 2022 focused on the outcomes of early intervention for high risk infants from birth to 3 months of age.
Elaine is a committee member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT) Neonatal Forum and was a member of the core team to update the RCOT Neonatal guidelines “Occupational Therapy in neonatal services and early intervention”, published in September 2022. Elaine is currently a member of the working party for British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) British Association of Neonatal and Neurodevelopment Follow Up (BANNFU) 4-year Neurodevelopmental Follow Up Programme.
Elaine is passionate about early intervention and using the principles of Ei SMART within practice to maximise the outcomes for the infants and families she works with.
